Bulk Campaign Management

This workflow guide explains how to perform bulk operations on multiple campaigns, ad sets, or ads at once. Bulk operations save significant time when managing campaigns at scale.
When to use this workflow:
  • Editing settings across multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • Publishing multiple campaigns at once
  • Uploading media assets to multiple platforms
  • Making the same change to many ad sets or ads
  • Managing campaigns at scale
For detailed feature documentation, see Bulk Operations.

Available Bulk Operations

Whathead supports these bulk operations:
  • Bulk Edit: Change settings on multiple entities at once
  • Bulk Publish: Publish multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • Bulk Upload: Upload media assets to multiple platforms at once
  • Bulk Status Changes: Pause, activate, or archive multiple campaigns

Bulk Edit Workflow

Step-by-Step Process

1

Select multiple nodes

On the Campaign Builder canvas:
  • Shift+click to select multiple nodes one by one
  • Drag to select multiple nodes in a region
  • Ctrl+A to select all nodes on canvas
Selected nodes highlight in blue.
2

Open bulk edit panel

Right-click on any selected node and choose Bulk Edit, or click the Bulk Edit button in the toolbar.
3

Choose fields to edit

The bulk edit panel shows all editable fields for the selected node type:
  • For campaigns: name, budget, schedule, status
  • For ad sets: targeting, placements, schedule, budget, status
  • For ads: copy, call-to-action, destination URL, status
Only fields common to all selected nodes are editable. If nodes have different platforms or types, some fields may be unavailable.
4

Make your changes

Edit the fields you want to change. Changes apply to ALL selected nodes.
Bulk edit overwrites existing values. If you want to keep some nodes unchanged, don’t include them in the selection.
5

Apply changes

Click Apply to All Selected. Whathead updates all selected nodes with your changes.
6

Validate and publish

Check for validation errors, then publish to apply changes to the platform.

Common Bulk Edit Scenarios

Use case: Pause all campaigns for a client or product line.
  1. Select all campaigns to pause
  2. Open bulk edit
  3. Change status to “Paused”
  4. Apply and publish
Result: All selected campaigns pause on the platform.

Bulk Publish Workflow

Publishing multiple campaigns simultaneously is faster than publishing one by one.
1

Create or edit multiple campaigns

Build multiple campaign structures on your canvas, or fetch and edit multiple existing campaigns.
2

Validate all campaigns

Ensure all campaigns have green checkmarks (no validation errors).
3

Click Publish

Click Publish in the toolbar. Whathead detects all campaigns on the canvas.
4

Review publish summary

Whathead shows what will happen for each campaign:
  • CREATE: New campaigns
  • UPDATE: Existing campaigns with changes
  • SKIP: Existing campaigns with no changes
5

Confirm and publish

Click Confirm. Whathead publishes all campaigns in parallel.
Whathead processes campaigns in parallel for speed. Publishing 5 campaigns is nearly as fast as publishing 1 campaign.
6

Review results

Whathead shows which campaigns succeeded and which failed (if any). Successful campaigns receive platform IDs. Failed campaigns show error messages.

Handling Partial Failures

If some campaigns succeed and others fail:
  1. Successful campaigns are live on the platform
  2. Failed campaigns remain on your canvas with error messages
  3. Fix errors on failed campaigns
  4. Republish only the failed campaigns (Whathead automatically skips successful ones)
Whathead tracks which campaigns succeeded and automatically skips them on retry. You don’t need to manually exclude successful campaigns.

Bulk Media Upload Workflow

Upload the same media assets to multiple platforms at once.
1

Open Media Library

Click Media Library in the toolbar or when creating an ad.
2

Select platforms

Choose which platforms you want to upload to:
  • Select multiple platforms (Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Google)
  • Or select “All Connected Platforms”
3

Upload assets

Drag and drop files or click Upload to select files from your computer.
Whathead shows which platforms accept each asset based on format and dimensions. Assets that don’t meet a platform’s requirements are skipped for that platform.
4

Confirm upload

Click Upload to Selected Platforms. Whathead uploads assets to all selected platforms simultaneously.
5

Use uploaded assets

Uploaded assets are now available in each platform’s media library and can be used in ads.
Bulk media upload is much faster than uploading to each platform individually. Use it when preparing assets for multi-platform campaigns.

Best Practices

Double-check your selection before applying bulk edits. It’s easy to accidentally include nodes you didn’t mean to edit.
If you’re unsure about a bulk edit, test it on 2-3 nodes first before applying to dozens or hundreds.
If your canvas has many nodes, use filters to show only the nodes you want to edit, then select all visible nodes.
Publishing many campaigns at once can take time. Do it during off-peak hours to avoid delays.
Before bulk editing, note the original values in case you need to revert changes.

Troubleshooting

Cause: Selected nodes are different types (e.g., campaigns and ad sets mixed).Solution: Select only nodes of the same type (all campaigns, all ad sets, or all ads).
Cause: Selected nodes have different platforms or configurations.Solution: Only fields common to all selected nodes are editable. Select nodes with similar configurations.
Cause: Some campaigns have validation errors or platform API issues.Solution: Review error messages, fix issues, and republish failed campaigns.
Cause: Assets don’t meet those platforms’ requirements.Solution: Check asset dimensions, format, and file size. Upload compatible versions for skipped platforms.
