Initial Setup
Before you can create campaigns in Whathead, you need to set up your account and connect at least one advertising platform. This guide walks you through account creation, platform authentication, and your first connection.What you’ll need:
- Business account on Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, or Google
- Admin or advertiser access to your ad account
- A few minutes to complete the authentication flow
Creating Your Whathead Account
Sign up for Whathead
Navigate to whathead.com and click Sign Up in the top-right corner.Provide your:
- Email address
- Password (minimum 8 characters)
- Company name
Verify your email
Check your inbox for a verification email from Whathead. Click the verification link to activate your account.
Your Whathead account is now active! Next, you’ll connect your first advertising platform.
Connecting Your First Platform
Whathead supports Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, Snapchat, and Google advertising platforms. You can connect multiple platforms and switch between them anytime.Navigate to Integrations
From your Whathead dashboard:
- Click Settings in the left sidebar
- Select Integrations from the settings menu
Choose your platform
Click Connect next to the platform you want to add:
- Meta - For Facebook and Instagram ads
- TikTok - For TikTok ads
- Snapchat - For Snapchat ads
- Google - For Google Ads
You can connect multiple platforms. Most users start with one platform and add others later as needed.
Authenticate with the platform
A new window opens with the platform’s authentication flow:
- Log in to your business account on the platform
- Review permissions that Whathead requests (read/write access to campaigns, ads, and assets)
- Authorize Whathead to access your account
- The window closes automatically after successful authentication
Select your ad account
After authentication, Whathead displays all ad accounts you have access to:
- Choose the ad account you want to work with
- Click Select Account
Your platform is connected! You’re ready to start creating campaigns.
Platform-Specific Setup Notes
Different platforms have slightly different authentication requirements:- Meta
- TikTok
- Snapchat
- Google
Requirements:
- Facebook Business Manager account
- Admin access to the ad account
- Two-factor authentication enabled (recommended)
- Read and manage ad campaigns
- Access media library
- View ad account insights
- Your ad accounts and campaigns
- Media assets in your library
- Campaign performance data
- Personal Facebook profile
- Pages you don’t explicitly share
- Billing information
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
If you encounter problems connecting your platform, try these solutions:Authentication window doesn't open

Cause: Your browser may be blocking pop-ups.Solution:
- Check your browser’s address bar for a blocked pop-up icon
- Click the icon and select Always allow pop-ups from whathead.com
- Click Connect again to retry
'Insufficient permissions' error

Cause: Your account doesn’t have the required access level on the platform.Solution:
- Contact your ad account admin and request advertiser or admin access
- Wait for the admin to grant permissions
- Log out of Whathead and log back in
- Try connecting again
Analyst or viewer roles cannot create or edit campaigns. You need at least advertiser-level access.
No ad accounts appear after authentication
No ad accounts appear after authentication
Cause: Your platform account may not have any ad accounts, or there’s a sync delay.Solution:
- Verify you have at least one ad account on the platform
- Wait 1-2 minutes and refresh the page
- If still no accounts appear, disconnect and reconnect the platform
- Check that you’re logged into the correct business account on the platform
'Connection expired' message

Cause: Platform authentication tokens expire after a period of time (typically 60-90 days).Solution:
- Go to Settings > Integrations
- Click Reconnect next to the expired platform
- Complete the authentication flow again
'Two-factor authentication required' error

Cause: The platform requires two-factor authentication (2FA) for API access.Solution:
- Log into your platform account directly
- Navigate to security settings
- Enable two-factor authentication
- Return to Whathead and try connecting again
Connection succeeds but campaigns don't load

Cause: Network issues or platform API delays.Solution:
- Refresh your browser
- Check your internet connection
- Try again in a few minutes (platform APIs occasionally have brief outages)
- If the problem persists for more than 30 minutes, contact Whathead support
'Account suspended' or 'Account restricted' error
'Account suspended' or 'Account restricted' error
Cause: Your ad account has been suspended or restricted by the platform.Solution:
- Log into your platform account directly to see the suspension reason
- Follow the platform’s appeal or resolution process
- Once your account is reinstated, reconnect in Whathead
Managing Multiple Platforms
Once you’ve connected your first platform, you can add more:Add another platform
Go to Settings > Integrations and click Connect next to any platform you haven’t connected yet.
Add multiple accounts from the same platform
If you manage multiple ad accounts on the same platform:
- Click Add Another Account next to the connected platform
- Authenticate again (you may be automatically logged in)
- Select the additional ad account
Security and Privacy
Whathead takes security seriously:- OAuth 2.0 authentication - Industry-standard secure authentication
- Encrypted token storage - Your credentials are encrypted at rest
- Minimal permissions - Whathead only requests necessary permissions
- No password storage - We never see or store your platform passwords
- Automatic token refresh - Connections stay active without re-authentication
- Revocable access - You can disconnect platforms anytime
You can revoke Whathead’s access anytime by disconnecting the platform in Settings or by removing Whathead from your platform’s authorized apps list.
